About Us

Adventurer, Outdoor Life and Hiking – Spiced with Passion
The Resilient Explorer

We have travelled more than 30 countries worldwide on five continents. We have experienced poverty, violence and unrest, but at the same time – and more importantly – we have experienced the never-ending benevolence. The different cultures around the world have made a big impression on us, and it helps to keep us passionate about what we do.

We have been fortunate to travel to various countries; backpacking tour in Africa and Asia and more frequently it amounted to one or two longer trips a year. One of our current photosets includes Vietnam and Myanmar (Burma).

We have both been living in Norway for a particular time of our lives where we both have beloved experiences from our time in the open sky while hiking the extraordinary nature in Norway which always have been considered balm for the soul. Nonetheless, hiking and outdoor life go very well with our passion for photography and adventure. There is something magical about staying in nature with one’s camera – a sort of serenity that inspires us to new heights and challenges.

The Man Behind the Camera
The Resilient Explorer

I’m The Resilient Explorer, and this is our travel blog. We created this little website to share our stories, tips and photos of our endeavours and highlight the calculated risks we take, the intriguing cultures we cross path with and explore the world. We hope this blog inspires you to travel the world, wherever that may be!

Personally, I have been photographing since age 7. It was my father who, in my early days, introduced me to the wondrous and exciting world through the analogue viewfinder. Back in 1994, I borrowed his old analogue SLR (I still have it, and it still works!). Since then, it has only progressed actively both on a personal level and a technical. The interest for photography has never been greater than it is today and I still challenge myself every way possible each day.

My inspiration for photography has always been a desire to catch something spectacular, something unusual and something unique — a story.

The Human Compass
The Wife

My wife, which I refer to as The Wife on this blog; she is a human compass able to find any path and navigate the unravelling, undiscovered places (if it’s safe and all mitigations have been taken!).

I love sharing our travel itinerary’s, our experiences (good as the bad ones) through this website. I have a passion for taking photos when travelling, hiking or just in general and found myself leaving them in a Lightroom catalogue for no-one to see. The Resilient Explorer came to life when we wanted to change this and create various post – or photosets – of our endeavours. They’re a great way for us to share the memories with loved ones and friends, but also – and most importantly – relive past experiences and laugh of the singular, beautiful moments with The Wife.
